I remember watching Idol with the auditions and Adam was the "cute, emo guy". When he sang Satisfaction, I knew he probably the best one-ROCK!!. Then when he sang B & W and RoF, I was blown away at his voice. Finally, when he did Mad World....that was it for me....I was in, he had my heart and I never want it back.

So much fun thinking back.....Tuesday and Wednesday nights!! I remember watching the Upright Cabaret vids over and over and over.

Funnily enough, I'm not quite sure I saw Adam's initial auduition...I don't think I did b/c I was watching the auditions on and off...I'd remember that, wouldn't I? I KNOW the first time I head him and it struck a chord with me was when he sang Cher's believe. I was like Holy Fuck this is the absolute best sinnger A.I. has EVER had...I'm 100% routing for him! From that point on I was in love...

I remember it well!

He walked to the stage for his audition (and for those of you who saw it, you'll know exactly what I'm talking about here), opened his mouth to sing Bohemian Rhapsody...."Mamaaaa...." BAM! I was INSTANTLY hit with chills after ONE WORD! No joke. The chills continued in waves until he walked out of that room, and I still get them when I see that audition today.

Yes, Adam had me at "Mama". lol :)

Funniest things were that before he started singing, I had commented to a friend, "Bohemian Rhapsody?! Ohh...everyone screws this one up!" lol. I also didn't get his full name until several weeks later...that was frustrating. I wanted to know who I was going to be voting for!

It still kind of amazes me how that ONE WORD just blew me away, and how instant and tangible my reaction to his voice was. It touched me in a place I didn't know existed for me...truly. Still does.

Oh man, I could rant all day about the first time I saw Adam....

Well, I first saw him on American Idol, and it was actually my mom who introduced me to him. I missed his interview (what a shame!), and she told me that some cute guy with a super good voice had just made it. I couldn't wait to see what he looked like! I saw him first in the top 36 when he was about to perform No Satisfaction. I think my jaw dropped after I heard him sing......I was like, hol-eeeee sh*t.

And now here I am. Posting on this forum. Two years later. :)

I was flipping channels looking for somthing to watch, was never really a idol watcher. I heard something..What the hell was that?..Stopped. It was Adam singing Ring of Fire. I thought it was the sexiest version of the song that I has ever heard. Then I noticed how good looking he was. Of course I had to watch every week after that. I have been obsessed ever since!!

I will never forget it! I actually heard him before I saw him, singing 'Some Kinda Wonderful' in the group audition for Idol - which I had Never Watched Before - but for some reason it was on the tv. I was in the other room and came running in to see who in the world sounded like that, fell in love, and the rest is history!

I was working on my computer and these yahoo ticker lines (on their homepage) kept coming through from the Bill O'Reilly interview. Initially, I just shook my head at that and ignored it. But when they brought that same story back a few weeks later I just could not believe that something like that could be considered news-worthy. Yes, I was obviously very naive.

So I got curious what was even so special that it was being reported so much and started googling. The first Youtube I happen to come across was from Upright Cabaret

and it just blew me away. I hit the replay button probably 10 times, then looked up other UC performances of Adam and oh well, I fell down the rabbit hole right then and there.

After a while waking up out of my daze I remembered that all this had started with a story about him being on idol and I went...what does a talent like this (performance wise, interpretation wise, stage presence, sense of humor and of course ability to sing) do on a show like AI? YUP I had a lot of catching up to do. The first AI performance I caught live was Slow Ride, that is how late in the season it was...so yes I had missed a lot, but luckily it was all on youtube and i-tunes had the downloads of the performances as well as the studio recordings and BestofArts had all the judges comments and it was easy to get to everything, the lawyers had not yet invaded the world of Glam.

The actual O-Reilly interview I watched somewhere many months after the idol tour had ended, when some article linked to it. It had become so irrelevant the moment I got introduced to Adam himself, I had all forgotten about it.

But yes, truth be told, in entertainment there is no such thing as bad news, without the Bill O'Reilly's nonsense I may still be running around this world no knowing about Adam Lambert and that is a very scary thought.

Btw, introducing me to AL is the only thing I am willing to thank BOR for and it most certainly is the ONLY thing.

I had watched AI in the early seasons (AI1 and AI2, but lost interest after that, saw a few songs sporadically, but nothing consistently, certainly was not aware of that whole online idol bubble that exists. Adam changed all that and then some. But yes, Adam had me at Craazy - and now you know how I got my user name.

I started watching Idol by chance, because of that cute blind boy, unfortunately i forgot his name now. I watched his qualifying for top 36 and loved him playing piano, elton john kinda voice, it was an emotional moment but then it was so funny when Seacrest went highfiving him after he got through and he actually didnt reply!!! hehehe for obvious reasons... :) it was so cute... then i tried to follow ths how later...

It wa sthen that I met Adam, the emo strange guy with a POWERFULL voice and the sweetest smile! I actually fell in love with him when he blew me away with ring of fire....

It was the first time ever i haved watched American Idol, which is not at all popular here in Brazil (even our brazilian version of it is not popular around here :)) Lucky me!

The first time I really saw Adam was Black or White.

I watched all of AI8 but didn't remember him from the early episodes because Tatiana and the battling b*tches were front and centre.

The first time I noticed Adam he was singing "Satisfaction" and I didn't really like it. He sang as though he was already a star and I thought: "Who the heck does he think he is?"

On elimination night, though, I was surprised to see him standing with Norman because I thought he was way too good to go home. No major love; just a sense of his talent.

It was Black or White that did it - I fell in love halfway through the song.

What turned it into BIG LOVE was Adam's response to the judges that night.

As they told him, one by one, how amazing he was, relief and joy played across his face: they dismantled him emotionally and his essential sweetness came through.

At the end, when he said about Michael Jackson "I love him", I suddenly clued in to the fact that he was gay. He was near tears and so thoroughly honestly and vulnerably himself that I was hooked for life and suddenly fiercely protective.

Two years later, nothing has changed.

I had basically the same reaction as you. "WHO IS THAT?!?!?!?!" I was channel surfing and just happened to come across American Idol one night right at the beginning of season 8. He slayed me the minute I saw and heard him. The rest is history!!!

My story was like with pretty much the rest of my other favourite artists like Kylie, for example. I heard Time For Miracles a few weeks ago and I was like "For some reason I remember that face and that voice but don't from where" so I started searching for videos and I realized I have seen before all of his videos.

I've always liked If I Had You, Time For Miracles, For Your Entertainment, etc but I always thought it was a different artist, never realised it was the same guy on all of them. Maybe because of his versatility. :)

So well, when I discovered that I immediately listen to his CD which now I love and started searching for his performances at American Idol especially loving "If I Can't Have You" and "Cryin´".

And now well, I have a terrible crush on him like never before XD

I've always watched AI from Season One on...basically because of the auditions that made me LOL at some of the try outs who actually thought they could sing!

So, when season 8 rolled around I was doing my thing with the auditions, hoping to be entertained again by the most obnoxious and horrendous singing contestants and their antics.

I caught Adam the very first time he was on TV, but actually was more interested in his cute hair look than his voice, though I knew instantly he 'should' get through. I loved the way he played up to Paula and Kara, kissing their hands, and I kinda laughed when Randy shook his hand away from Adam when he got around to him.... though at the time I had no clue he was gay. Then, when he came out of the room and gave this lovely woman a big hug, I presumed she was his mom, as they looked so much alike. I loved how this young kid proudly displayed his winning tag to the camera, shouting, "I'm going back home to Hollywood!", and bounced down the sidewalk.

Basically, because I thought he was so adorable, I kept my eye on him. But, when he overpowered everyone in the group number, "Some Kind of Wonderful" with those first unbelievable high !notes! that took my breath away, his poise, energy and charisma...and his now-well-known polite charm with his lip-synched "Thank You" to Kara, I knew in that moment that Adam Lambert was positively the best singer that AI had ever had the good fortune to have try out!

"Believe" by Cher set my beliefs in stone, and it was uphill for me with Adam from thereon. I knew with my whole heart that Adam Lambert would ride to the finish and win AI8, without a doubt! Adam still IS the winner to me. :)

4 me its was that very 1st time he sung top 36 4 sure! I like others was amazed he could pull off that song, But I knew right there he had me! didn't even have to watch the other shows...just new he wasn't going home ! So watch'd at the last, that is when My Heart Broke that Chris had somehow beat him! I was so mad vow'd to never watch Idol again,(and still don't)! I don't watch much TV or pop radio anyway...so I had know Idea how big he had gotten! and just by luck I was on line and herd him on Youtube and that was it! Then like others I had to go play catch up! but glad I'd did!! Feel bad that I miss'd him At Thundervalley Casino as its just 30 mins from my house!! and he was never in the paper here or advertised, I hope he play's there again! I won't miss the next ones for sure! But thank Adam for this wonderful Community! As we have such a good time here right? Much love!:)

Love everyone's comments!

I wasn't going to watch AI8. I was channel surfing one night and caught part of a show during Hollywood week (I actually saw Adam, but didn't hear him sing. He was with a group of other people and he kinda stood out - I remember thinking "now there's a striking young man"), but didn't watch any of the auditions or the rest of Hollywood week. Then I heard that the first week's theme was Micheal Jackson and I had to watch...I was feeling extra snarky that night.

I was NOT ready for Adam's Black & White. "Who IS this guy?" I had to watch the next show...and the next. He never disappointed. I couldn't believe how important this show became for me (I mean no dis-respect for those who love Idol - I like the singing - but hate listening to judges and watching the 10 thousand commericals); I couldn't wait for Tuesday nights. I actually VOTED. And when the DVR cut out before Adam sang Mad World I was crushed and threw a little tantrum (the look on my husband's face was priceless - he's never understood my Adam addiction).

Anyway - I still can't get enough of Adam. I absolutely adore him and always will.

Was walking past the living room carrying a laundry basket and family was watching Idol. I had stopped watching Idol a couple of seasons earlier. I heard this amazing voice, stopped dead in my tracks, dropped the laundry basket, parked my butt on the couch and watched with my mouth hanging open. He was singing Satisfaction from what I remember. From that day on, every night Idol was on my family knew my butt was going to be on that couch and they'd better not make a sound or distraction or they would be VERY VERY SORRY!!!! Maybe dead. LOL.

When I saw him sing Black or White I pronounced him the next MJ/Elvis and knew I was witnessing the birth of a legend. And to me, he is. :)

When he sang Play That Funky Music the cougar in me was born.

When he sang Mad World I was madly and hopelessly in love, entered my own mad world, and haven't left since. And hope I never do.

The first time I saw Adam was the night he sang Satisfaction. I was totally hooked. I called everyone I knew and got them hooked. So sexy!! I then googled him and found his Upright Cabaret Performances. Unf*cking believable!! I joined AO early on, and am on it at least once-twice a day. I can't get enough of him. (do I need more of a life or what?!?) I just ADORE THE MAN!!
